DRAMA IN FUMANE (VERONA) – A moment of terror unfolded yesterday evening, April 8th, around 5:50 PM, when a car with two people on board veered off the road at the first hairpin bend connecting Molino del Cao to Molina, in the municipality of Fumane.
The incident required immediate intervention from the Fire Department and the Alpine Rescue of Verona, activated by the Emergency center of 118.
Car plunges twenty meters
According to rescuers’ reconstruction, the car lost grip on the hairpin bend and plunged for about twenty meters, flipping twice before coming to a stop. The two occupants, both 79 years old, one residing in Fumane and the other in San Pietro in Cariano, were thrown outside the car’s cabin.
The alarm was raised by some witnesses in the area who witnessed the dramatic scene and immediately alerted the emergency services.
Joint intervention of rescuers, firefighters, and medical staff
Rapidly responding to the scene were rescuers from the Alpine Rescue, Firefighters, and ambulance medical personnel. The two men, injured with probable multiple traumas, were reached by technicians and stabilized on the spot. Thanks to a counterbalance lifting system, the injured were harnessed and hoisted up to the road level.
Transport to the hospital for the two men
After receiving initial treatment on the spot, the two men were transported to the hospital in Negrar, a facility equipped to handle such traumas. Their conditions, although serious, are not currently considered critical, according to health sources.
