PADUA – Arrested a 45-year-old Tunisian for drug trafficking
A 45-year-old Tunisian man, wanted for a conviction related to drug trafficking, was arrested on Saturday afternoon, December 28, in Padua, after a daring escape attempt. The man, upon seeing the Police approaching, tried to flee by jumping out of a window of an apartment located in via Ampere, in the Chiesanuova district.
The raid and the arrest
The officers of the Mobile Squad of the Padua Police Headquarters had been following the 45-year-old for days, suspecting that he was staying in the apartment of some compatriots. After a long stakeout, the officers surrounded the building and knocked on the door of the apartment. Upon seeing the Police, the man tried to escape, but fell dramatically into the courtyard below, fracturing both wrists and two ribs. Despite the escape attempt, the man was immediately apprehended and arrested.
Drug seizure and pending conviction
During the raid, the man was found in possession of 40 grams of heroin and three doses of cocaine, for which he was arrested for drug trafficking. Furthermore, he was wanted for a final conviction that required him to serve 1 year and 4 months in prison for drug trafficking offenses committed between 2016 and 2019. After being hospitalized for the injuries sustained in the fall, the 45-year-old will be transferred to prison.
