A Funeral United the Community
In Merlara, Padua, on March 1, 2025, the church of Merlara welcomed friends, family, and colleagues to bid farewell to Thomas Gobbi, the 35-year-old truck driver who passed away due to an accident on February 24 in the province of Verona. His death has left a deep void, and not only his family, but also a vast community of colleagues participated in the funeral.
A Gesture of Love and a Special Tribute
On the day of the funeral, Thomas’ partner, Nicole, wanted to honor him by wearing his work jacket with the logo of the transport company Gobbi Autotrasporti as a sign of closeness and affection. His friends also organized a truck parade in his honor. About twenty vehicles drove along the road in front of the church, honking their horns and revving their engines to pay tribute to their departed colleague and friend.
A Gesture for the Future
In addition to the grief, a strong gesture of support came from the community. Thomas’ friends started a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe to support his partner Nicole, who is three months pregnant, and his parents, who are facing another tragic loss. In just a few days, over €11,700 have been raised with the aim of helping the family cope with this difficult situation.
