Tragico incidente a Jesolo: coppia di 59enni in Harley Davidson colpita da camion ubriaco, morti e feriti

JESOLO (VE) – Tragedy strikes on Saturday afternoon on regional road 43 in via Adriatico: two spouses from Peseggia di Scorzè, Davide Magnanini and Manuela Ghezzo, both 59 years old, lost their lives while riding a Harley Davidson. The couple’s fate was sealed in a collision with a refrigerated truck driven by a 44-year-old man who tested positive for alcohol, along with four other vehicles.

Dynamics and investigations at the scene of the accident

According to initial reports, the truck driver, a Moldovan citizen residing in Padua, was leaving the city driving the vehicle for a food transport company. The two motorcyclists were traveling in opposite directions. The violent impact occurred at the base of the overpass towards the roundabout of the Tosano shopping center, during a very busy traffic moment. It is not ruled out that the motorcycle was attempting to overtake. Following the collision between the truck and the motorcycle, a Volkswagen Golf, a Toyota Yaris, a Ford C Max with German tourists on board, and a Suzuki Switch were also involved. Three people were injured and taken to the hospital, none in serious condition. All vehicles were seized for further investigations.

Truck driver under investigation and ongoing inquiries

The truck driver, subjected to an alcohol test by the Local Police, tested with a blood alcohol level of 2.55 g/l, well above the legal limit. The man is now under investigation for vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence. Officers have conducted numerous investigations and are collecting testimonies to accurately reconstruct the sequence of events. The data from the truck’s tachograph will also be analyzed to verify speed and driving times.

Community in shock and mourning

The news of Davide and Manuela’s death has deeply affected both the community of Jesolo and that of Scorzè. The families of the victims have sought legal assistance. Social media is flooded with messages of condolence, especially from friends of the “Harley coi fioi” group, and the town of Peseggia remains in disbelief over the tragedy that has torn apart a long-standing couple.
