Racketeering Attempt
PADOVA – Three teenagers, aged between 15 and 16 years old, have been arrested by the Carabinieri of the Padova Company for the crime of attempted robbery. The incident took place on the night between Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30, when a 33-year-old Pakistani rider reported the incident.
The Robbery Attempt
The rider had been called for a delivery in via Foscolo, near the Padova train station, by three boys who had previously approached him. Once on the spot, the young men claimed they did not have the money to pay for the goods, asking to receive them anyway. When the rider resisted, two of the three young men pushed him to the ground, while the third tried to steal the goods from his thermal backpack, without success.
The Intervention of Emergency Services and the Arrests
Fortunately, some other riders came to the victim’s aid and the three young men tried to flee, attempting to run towards the Station square. Thanks to the prompt intervention of the Carabinieri, the three were caught and arrested. During a search, one of the young men was found in possession of a stolen document.
The Criminal Past
Subsequent investigations revealed that the two younger boys were already involved in another robbery against a minor, which took place on March 11, also near the station. As for the older teenager, he was also identified as the perpetrator of a robbery against another minor.
